Shortly before I finished the project, I made a short time-lapse video of myself constructing two collages because . . . I had a new iPhone and I could. It’s not going to make me a YouTube star, but looking at it six years after, I find how I was messing around with composition kind of interesting.
I opened the Rattle poetry challenge this morning to see the newest image, and of course I discovered your creative collage. Interestingly. I had just googled Ezra Jack Keats because I had a beautiful book mark featuring a scene from his famous picture book Snowy Day. The article I read said he was famous for using multicultural characters, urban settings, and striking collages.
I thought you might appreciate knowing I was immediately struck by your use of a feminine face. The bee is a visual paradox, funny and threatening. What a fascinating prompt for a poem!
Also, I liked your personal top collage choices, and I am thrilled that one of your images is the cover for a book of someone else’s poems. Lastly, 1000 works of art in 1000 days. Impressive !
Wishing you the best.
